[ARCHIVED] Cohoes Police make Robbery, Drug Arrest

Cohoes, NY (May 25, 2021)- Cohoes Police seized an estimated 930 doses of heroin packaged for sale, approximately 29 grams of MDMA/ecstacy, and narcotic paraphernalia after an early morning domestic dispute led to the execution of a search warrant.

On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Joel Polanco, 26, of Cohoes was arrested following a domestic dispute at 12 Congress Street. It is alleged the defendant unlawfully entered the residence, menaced the victim with a firearm and stole property. Subsequently, members of the Cohoes Police along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant on the residence and a vehicle owned by the defendant.

Polanco was charged with the following:

Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony)

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree (Class A Felony)

Burglary in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)

Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)

Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree (Class E Felony)

Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree (Class E Felony)

Menacing in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

Harassment in the 2nd Degree (Violation)
