Public Safety Commissioner James Ward was hired in January 2020 after his brief retirement from the Cohoes Police Department. Commissioner Ward retired in 2015 as Assistant Police Chief with 32 years of service. Before joining the CPD in April of 1983 as a Patrol Officer, he served in the US Army as Military Police for 3 years (1976-1979), following his military career he worked for the Albany County Department of Corrections for 3 years.

Assistant Chief Tom Ross was hired in May of 1970 (48 years of service) as a Patrol Officer. Since 1993 he has been in command of the Detective Bureau as Detective Lieutenant, then in 2016 he was sworn in as Assistant Chief of Police.    

Captain Todd Pucci was hired in March 1998 as a Patrol Officer.  Todd was the Administrative Tech Officer in charge of Dispatch and Technical IT issues before he became the midnight Sergeant in 2014. Then in 2016 he was sworn in as Captain.
