Cohoes, N.Y.- Due to the overwhelming demand for individuals and families to utilize Lansing Pool in Cohoes, City Officials announce today a new policy that will limit the number of non-residents in the public pool to seventy (70) people max per day, effective immediately.
While our commitment to be a good neighbor to our surrounding communities is still important to city officials, the influx of out of town residents in Cohoes has become inundating for staff, city residents and emergency personnel.
Although non-residents are charged a fee to use Lansing Pool, the occupancy levels are at or near maximum capacity since this season has begun, with a vast majority of the numbers being non-resident users. The problem city officials are facing is an increase in complaints from city residents who are unable to utilize their own community pool on a daily basis. Mayor Morse states, “While excluding non-residents is not an option, limiting the number of attendees is necessary to ensure Cohoes residents have full access.”
